Does anyone still ride horses in London? A good place to check would be Bayswater. It’s very close to Hyde Park. Not just driving or cycling distance – it’s within trotting distance. And this sign in Sussex Square looks pretty hopeful.
Despite what I said in my blog posts from March about mews being transformed into garaging for cars, some horses still live in Bathurst Mews. You can arrange rides and lessons in Hyde Park from two stables in the mews – Ross Nye Stables and Hyde Park Stables.
I’ve no idea which of the two stables is better, but at least one of the horses from Hyde Park Stables has a glowing golden tail.

Such beautifully groomed horses! I like how even the horse on the sign looks so very proper. Can you imagine what a yield-to-horses sign would look like in cowboy country?!
And if you put a sign up at your property, I know from this week’s blog, one rider on the sign isn’t enough, in case two people come along on one horse.
Would love to trot about there – however all your pics depict folks in very “propah” riding gear. 🙂 A far cry from my aunt’s farm in rural Manitoba where I first went horseback riding! 🙂
I see a theme developing here in the comments. I hadn’t even noticed, but you are both right, everyone who rides in Hyde Park is dressed like this. And even they look scruffy when you see the Household Cavalry riding past.
